After consecutive record sales in 2020 of Rubik Mona Lisa and Rubik Space, another of Invader's iconic works is presented by Artcurial, Rubik Dalai Lama.
Stemming from the Rubikcubism project of the early 2000s, Invader's 3D work is made up of 255 Rubik's cubes illustrating the face of the Dalai Lama, an emblematic and inspiring figure in Invader's eyes.
Invader created this portrait made of Rubik's cubes in 2008, during a trip to Nepal. The artist befriended Tibetan monks, adopting the spirituality of Tibetan Buddhism, and thus that of the Dalaï Lama.
Invader's Rubik Dalaï Lama is currently on display at the auction house and will be auctioned on the 5th of July at the "Urban & Pop Contemporary" auction.
