On the initiative of the Marseille artists' collective Lartmada, and in collaboration with the city of Port-de-Bouc (Bouches-du-Rhônes), the urban art festival « Les Nouveaux ateliers » is offering its second edition from May 31th to June 5th 2021.
For the occasion, 10 artists from the international urban art scene will be given carte blanche to paint the facades of the town centre of Port-de-Bouc.
Working in pairs, Lek & Sowat will put their abstract vision of architecture into action on the facade of the Gymnase Mistral.
The project will be called "Les Nouveaux ateliers", named in the memory of the Chantiers et ateliers de Provence. The shipyard founded at Port-de-Bouc in 1899 built up to 200 ships before closing in 1966.
The tribute to this unique industrial and maritime past is the anchor point of the festival which brings together different generations of Port-de-Bouc inhabitants to discover urban art.
