"At first sight, one might think of abstract works. However, Diane Benoit du Rey's paintings are indeed representations, those of phenomenon of light. Her paintings do not dwell on the object: devoid of history, containing no memory and leading to no narrative, these neutral scultpural elements are so many pretexts for observing the behaviour of lights and its gradations in contact with them. These objects tend to dissapear from the artist's work, in favour of a pure representation of the intimate dialogue between colour and light."
